One of two original pieces of music inspired by my time in Chile as an exchange student in 1970 just before Allende came into office. I wrote this piece decades after I was there, and at first I didn’t see the connection. 1970 was a very tumultuous time in Chile, and all of that turmoil had a huge influence on my young heart. This month’s muse painting looks to me like a long journey by train, which is how I traveled while there, and how I saw most of the amazing Chilean country.
