Toxic

No one enters your door

your eyes, your nose, your mouth,

lest a finger’s tip gouge the disease

into another’s lung.

What of the shells of eggs,

the skin of others?

Skin bounds

our inwardness

from spilling out

 as puddle without form.

Skin seals

ourselves within ourselves,

separating

who is the other?

Light slides in

through this porous film,

a house we dwell.

Within my skin, within my house

within my eyes, within my mouth

I send out line and tone,

flares into the vastness

fumbling for contact.
