Carla Rae Johnson’s sculptural cutouts allow the viewer to become the viewed by putting one’s own face where the faces of Harriet Tubman, Virginia Wolfe, Fanny Lou Hamer, and Frida Kahlo would be. And what would these honorable women be doing today was the question raised? Hence ENCORE! Using research into their characters and quotes garnered, Mara Mill's created monologues brings the sculptures a voice. Q and A after the performance.
