This work is the number seven in a series by the artist inspired symbolically of the heart cards of French poker. For the theme of this series, the artist has prepared twelve works on paper. The heart as an organ, as a symbol of love or the absence of love. The heart as the center of our all-seeing life, which has the power to change the course of history.

The number seven of hearts is a self-portrait of the artist (a recurring theme in her work) in which she is represented as the Virgin Mary with the seven knives stuck in her heart.
