World Environment Day
Friday June 4th, 2021, 12-4pm
Schedule:
1:00 Our Wonderful Frogs! Hear a story about frogs, say hello to the (real) Hammond frogs, and then draw a picture of them having an adventure. (Ages 5-10)
1.30 Scavenger Hunt. The Hammond has many different special and colorful plants and sculptures. Hear about their symbolic meanings and then find them on a scavenger hunt. (Ages 5-10)
3:00 The Magic is in the Details. Blossoms, bark, foliage, rocks all have amazing textures up close. Let them inspire you to write haiku and other forms of Japanese poetry as a group. (Middle-high school students)
3:30 Art in Nature. Sit in the garden as a group and paint or draw what you see to your heart's content. (Middle-high school students)
4:00 Nature in Words. Great Chinese and Japanese poets were often inspired by nature. Listen to their poems while viewing the plants that inspired them.
PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION Take a picture in our garden, write a caption, and send it in (info@hammondmuseum.org). The three most inspired photos will be displayed on our website and the winners will receive recognition and a prize.
