Mosaics: Pet Portraits

Course Description

This course will focus on the various ways of creating pet portraitures in mosaics. Bring out the character of a pet, a silly portrait of a wild animal or anything you can dream up. You will learn how to use a mortar method so that there is no need to use messy grout and still achieve a beautiful piece. Setting in mortar we will maximize sculptural/dimensional possibilities; building a cohesive color/material palette. We will concentrate our focus on color, style, development and individual expression. All materials and tools will be provided; substrate board, thinset, glue, glass and pottery. This course is open to all levels. Please bring in a portrait of an animal you wish to create from, it can be your pet, a wild animal, or a caricature—fun, funky, serious or silly.
