Course Description
Step into the tradition of handmade craft in this hands-on Broom Making Workshop, where participants will learn the fundamentals of working with natural broomcorn to create beautiful and functional tools for everyday use. Guided through each step of the process, you will learn how to prepare and handle broomcorn fibers and use a traditional foot-brake winding technique to construct sturdy, long-lasting brooms. During the workshop, participants will make two styles: a practical scrubber whisk, perfect for small cleaning tasks, and a classic turkey tail hand broom, valued for both its usefulness and distinctive fan-shaped design. No prior experience is necessary. All materials and tools will be provided, and each participant will leave with their own handmade brooms and the skills to continue exploring this rewarding fiber art at home.
