Course Description

This course explores drawing as both an essential artistic foundation and a creative medium in its own right. Students will discover how drawing can be used to observe, experiment, develop ideas, and create expressive finished works of art. We will explore a wide range of traditional and non-traditional drawing techniques using pencils, graphite, markers, India ink, watercolor, and acrylic. Through demonstrations, exercises, and guided projects, students will experiment with line, texture, value, layering, composition, and mark-making while discovering how different materials can transform the character of a drawing. Whether you are new to drawing or looking to expand your existing practice, this course encourages experimentation and personal expression. Students will be encouraged to find their own approach and discover the possibilities of drawing beyond the traditional sketch. All materials will be provided.
