Course Description

Discover the luminous beauty of encaustic painting, a versatile medium made from a blend of beeswax and pigment that creates rich texture, depth, and a uniquely luminous surface. Students will explore the history, techniques, and creative possibilities of this ancient art form through demonstrations, guided exercises, and individual experimentation. Each class begins with a demonstration of encaustic techniques, followed by ample studio time to explore the medium and develop personal artwork with individualized instruction. No prior painting experience is necessary. The school will provide major equipment; additional supplies may be purchased locally or online. Class size is limited to ensure plenty of personal attention and support for each student.
