Course Description

Discover the art of creating your own vibrant silk scarves in this immersive workshop for adults. Participants will learn both hand painting and marbling techniques to produce one-of-a-kind wearable art. You will begin by planning your design, stretching your silk, and applying resist to create defined areas for painting. After preparing your silk with alum, you will mix a palette of colors and hand paint your scarf, experimenting with layers, textures, and pattern. Techniques such as marbling allow you to float colors and transfer them onto silk for unique, swirling effects. Throughout the process, your scarves are carefully dried, steamed to set the colors, and finished by washing out the resist and ironing to perfection. Each participant leaves with a beautifully handcrafted silk scarf that showcases their personal style and creativity. All materials and tools are provided. This workshop is perfect for beginners and experienced artists alike, offering guidance, inspiration, and a relaxed, supportive environment.
