Course Description
This relaxed, hands-on course is designed for artists of all experience levels who want to explore collage as a creative process and discover new ways of working with images, color, texture, and composition. Beginning with a few simple exercises and creative prompts to get your ideas flowing, while exploring basic collage concepts and approaches to cutting, layering, arranging, and combining materials. We will talk about different cutting tools and adhesives and how your choice of materials can influence the finished work. A variety of collage materials will be provided, but you are encouraged to bring your own papers, photographs, drawings, found materials, or other pieces you’ve been saving and wondering what to do with. There are no rules about what can become part of a collage! Whether you are new to collage or an experienced artist looking for a fresh way to develop ideas, this is an opportunity to experiment, take risks, and let the process lead the way. All materials will be provided, but you are encouraged to bring your favorite materials or mementos to use in your creations.
