Course Description

Explore creativity from every angle in this engaging hand building ceramics workshop focused on creating unique double-face boxes. Participants will design and construct a functional ceramic box featuring two expressive faces on the lid allowing for storytelling, personality, and imaginative surface design. Using hand building techniques such as slab construction, shaping, and texturing, students will learn how to form a sturdy box structure while experimenting with sculptural details and facial features. Guidance will be provided on construction methods, attaching elements securely, and adding decorative textures and patterns to enhance each piece. This workshop welcomes beginners as well as those with some clay experience. Emphasis is placed on creative exploration, craftsmanship, and enjoying the process in a supportive studio environment. Clay pieces take four weeks to be fired and the follow up glaze session will be on Saturday, May 30th from 1:30pm – 3pm. Please wear clothes that can get muddy. All materials are provided.
