Course Description

Capture the vibrant colors and shapes of nature through the magical process of ecoprinting! Ecoprinting uses heat to transfer the images of plants onto fabric or paper. We’ll create dynamic designs on cotton, silk, and paper, using flowers saved from the summer and leaves collected during the fall. Nature is so abundant! The workshop will cover very basic chemistry of plant pigments, preparation and care of naturally dyed fibers, and considerations of sustainable art-making. If you have a cotton/linen shirt or other small item you’d like to upcycle, please bring it in the first day of the workshop. White or light colored socks or T-shirts work really well. Please feel free to bring in any fresh leaves you find. All materials will be provided.
