Autumn Hive

Leslie Connito

Digital Photograph

11 x 14 inches

South Salem, New York

This photograph is of one of my bee hives on the property and is sort of an environmental statement. But it's also, simply beautiful. This picture is what happened when I opened the hive to check the bees one afternoon and the light reflected the honey bringing out these amazing colors. Bees in the fall may or may not make it through the winter as they are so delicate and have so many predators so we need to look in on them from time to time.. As you may know Honeybees are endangered even though they are not wild. They are beautiful to watch and incredibly intelligent. They are a close knit community and are a perfect muse for a surreal photograph.
