Epitome

Ceci Cole McInturff

A brief video of free-associative thoughts as I worked for the first time with California buckeye nuts and husks. The resulting piece with these materials is Mala.

The husks present to me endless varieties of visual travel, emotional currents, and metaphors for human energy and striving, living, and dying.

These particular husks were collected at Chalk Hill ranch in Sonoma County, California. While I’d hope to harvest more and work with these further, since I was there the area has been devastated by wildfires  three times. One more reminder to take nothing for granted.
