About the Event
In conjunction with the current exhibition Priya Tambe: Echoes of the Pond, in this workshop participants will learn about the encaustic painting techniques used to make the artworks on view. Artist Priya Tambe demonstrates how she creates luminous, abstract forms using paper and encaustic medium (molten beeswax and resin).
At the conclusion of the demo, each participant will receive a sheet of handmade paper dipped in encaustic wax, along with a pressed leaf gathered from the Hammond’s grounds. With these materials, attendees are invited to design their own unique creation, which Priya will artfully fuse on the hot plate. Their finished piece will then be theirs to take home—a tangible memory of their creative experience.
