About the Event

Jan Johnsen, an admired landscape designer and author, lived in Kyoto, Japan and worked at a Japanese landscape architecture firm in Osaka. In her fascinating Powerpoint talk, she offers inspiring landscape design tips that can be used in both residential and commercial outdoor spaces. She also explains, in clear terms, how to place five rocks. This talk accompanies her current show at the Hammond, The Art of Stillness- Japanese Garden Techniques in Focus.
As principal of Johnsen Landscapes & Pools, Jan is known is known for her advocacy of the beneficial effects of nature and gardens upon our well-being. She is the author of five books, including her popular, Gardentopia- Design Basics for Creating Beautiful Outdoor Spaces (Countryman Press).
