Encore Power
In_Question artist, Carla Rae Johnson will soon be installing “Encore Power,” an interactive installation created expressly for the Hays Gallery at the Hammond Museum. Four powerful women from history will be represented in life-size panels with cut-out faces so YOU can participate! Envision yourself as Virginia Woolf in waders, returning to clean up the mighty Hudson River, or Harriet Tubman, in “camo,” coming back at night to help people cross the border! Have your picture taken as Frida Kahlo, returning to give painting lessons to Indigenous Americans in the Southwest, or as Fannie Lou Hamer serving water to Georgians standing in line to vote! Johnson’s installation will empower with wit and hope for a more just future imagined by powerful women, past and present!
