Course Description

Artists will have fun improving their drawing skills through direct observation of various subject matter. We will draw both outdoors in the Stroll Garden and indoors with select set-ups that will improve your eye-hand coordination and your visual accuracy. We will practice “sighting”, as a tool to record relative proportion, relative angles and alignment. Outdoors we’ll practice both linear and atmospheric perspective. There will be an introduction to various drawing tools, graphite sticks, water-soluble pencils, charcoal, conte crayon, reed pens, and more, as students learn how to capture a dynamic composition. Please see supply list on our website or bring your usual drawing materials with a sketch pad. The teacher will supply any other needed materials.
