Ready to experiment and get creative? This hands-on mixed media class invites students to explore a wide range of materials including graphite, watercolor, gouache, acrylic, oil paint, and more. Working on a variety of surfaces, you’ll discover how layering, texture, and material choices influence the look and meaning of your work. Inspiration is drawn from artists such as Degas, Romare Bearden, Jasper Johns, Jim Dine, and Robert Rauschenberg, all known for their inventive approaches. Through demonstrations and process-based projects, students will combine drawing, painting, collage, and textured mediums such as modeling paste and pumice. Emphasis is placed on developing artistic confidence, thoughtful spontaneity, and personal expression. No prior experience is necessary—beginners are welcome. Curiosity encouraged.
