About the Event
Tanabata or Star Festival celebrates the annual reunion of the cosmological Weaving Maiden and Herd Boy.
2pm Join us for a fun afternoon for all ages with an interactive telling of the Tanabata story, an overview of the astronomy behind this fable, an origami-making session, and the making and hanging of traditional wish banners (tanzaku).
3pm Shakuhachi flute performance by Chris DeCilla
Listen to and learn about the distinctive sounds of the Japanese bamboo flute (shakuhachi).
