About the Event
Jan Johnsen, an admired landscape designer and author, offers 11 illustrated landscape design tips that are useful for residential, municipal, and commercial outdoor spaces. She also explains, in clear terms, how to place five rocks and shares her reflections on sound in the garden in connection with the 5 totems in the Sound Forest installation.
After Jan’s talk, she will move out into the Japanese Stroll Garden for a revealing and inspiring conversation with Sound Forest Installation, Songs of Disappearance creators Bruce Odland, sonic thinker, and Soli Pierce, interdisciplinary artist who works with natural materials to create thought-provoking, immersive environments.
Jan Johnsen, who lived in Kyoto and worked at a Japanese landscape architecture firm in Osaka, is known for her advocacy of the beneficial effects of nature and gardens upon our well-being. She is the principal of Johnsen Landscapes & Pools and author of 5 books, most recently Floratopia: Flower Garden Ideas for Yard, Patio or Balcony (2021).
