About the Event
Diwali, also spelled Divali, is one of the major religious festivals in Hinduism, Jainism, and Sikhism. The name is derived from the Sanskrit term dipavali, meaning "row of lights." The festival generally symbolizes the victory of light over darkness. Join us for an exuberant afternoon of Indian dance, music, food, art, and activities. Suitable for all ages.
Tasty Indian vegetarian snacks provided for sale by Masala Kraft.
1-2pm – Decorate diyas (small ritual lamps), learn about traditional Diwali practices, and enjoy the wonderful artistic ritual installation arranged special for this event by the artist Yogi Chavada.
2-4:30pm – Indian classical Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, and Mohiniyattam dance performances.
