About the Event

Join us for this special tradition celebrating the East Asian Autumn Moon Festival, begun by Natalie Hays Hammond in 1966. Enjoy a Japanese Tea Ceremony demonstration, the special installation of Frank Kara's 100+One Teapots, and a concert of traditional Japanese music, as well as our garden in the soft twilight.

5:30pm – Museum and garden open to the public

6pm – Japanese Tea Ceremony demonstration, led by Omotesenke Tea Professor Yasuko Hara and the tea friends of Shoin-Kai Tea Group, honoring the beauty of the autumn sunset over the Japanese Stroll Garden.

7pm – Ceramic artist Frank Kara talks about his current project 100 + 1 Teapots

8pm - Masayo Ishigure and Miyabe Koto Shamisen Ensemble perform traditional koto and shamisen music in our Japanese Stroll Garden (weather permitting)
