My creative approach is inspired by my four year sojourn in Japan. The serenity I felt experiencing the Japanese concept of “less is more” is what I share through my art. I have found a commonality of language between the tranquil nature of Japanese artistry and the spirituality depicted in the Native American and African arts. The wall pieces I create imbue the same qualities of wabi sabi and shibui—quiet, simple, subtle, and imperfect. Each work incorporates a vintage textile fragment along with a wooden piece of antiquity to remind us to remember the past as we move forward with our lives.
