Three-Day Introduction to Wheel Throwing

Course Description

Discover the art of wheel throwing in this three-day workshop designed for absolute beginners. Learn the fundamentals of working on the pottery wheel as you develop essential skills, including centering clay, opening, pulling walls, and shaping simple forms such as bowls and cups. With step-by-step instruction and plenty of hands-on practice, you'll gain confidence while exploring the creative process in a relaxed and supportive studio environment. Students will also learn basic trimming and finishing techniques to prepare their pieces for glazing and firing. All clay, tools, glazes, and firings are included. No prior pottery experience is necessary. Due to the ceramic firing process, completed work will be ready for pickup approximately five to six weeks after the workshop. The school will notify students when their pottery is available. Please wear comfortable clothing that can get messy, tie back long hair, and trim fingernails for the best wheel-throwing experience.
