Course Description
Take your wheel throwing to the next level in this dynamic, skill-building workshop focused on both throwing in sections and creative alteration. Participants will learn how to throw tall forms in two or three parts and successfully join them at the leather-hard stage, gaining confidence in timing, attachment, and reinforcing seams for strong construction. Once larger forms are built, students will explore ways to transform their pieces through alteration techniques such as paddling, stretching, faceting, cutting, and reshaping while the clay is still soft. This process encourages experimentation and personal expression, allowing each piece to move beyond symmetry into more sculptural, dynamic forms. This workshop is ideal for intermediate to advanced students who are ready to expand their technical skills while embracing creative risk-taking and form exploration. All materials will be provided.
