Course Description

Pastels are not wimpy! While the word conjures up soft and grayed colors, pastel paintings can be exceptionally vibrant and exciting. In this weekend workshop, we will focus on drawing people, using graphite or charcoal, and then add color to the mix. Our goals will include a solid introduction to both portraiture and the pastel medium. Students should bring paper and all other materials will be provided by the school. Paper:  Toned drawing paper (at least 3 sheets), or pad, “11x14” Canson mi-teintes pad of paper, 11x14” or 12x16,” Selection of cool or warm colors Optional, single sheet of Canson board in medium gray or brown, from 11x14” up to 18x24”
