Once Upon a Time Eggs features my walk performance in Bisti Wilderness, New Mexico. The land was flat and you can easily get lost in the 45,000-acre of badlands. After hiking for an hour in the early frosty winter morning, I encountered the eroded desert landscape resembling giant dinosaur eggs as if I had traveled back in time. After learning that chickens are the descendants of dinosaurs in research, I created silhouette drawings of chicken embryos. My personal journey from a difficult pregnancy to motherhood encourages me to look closer at the relationship between the biological life forms and their habitats.
