BLOOM II

14 SCULPTORS INC.

Sculpture in the Garden

August 1 to October 30, 2021

Opening - Sunday August 1, 2021 - 1:00 pm

Curated by Bibiana Huang Mathesis

The eight artists exhibiting their works are Dan Bergman, Allan Cyprys, Esther Grillo, Niki Ketchman, Siena Gillann Porta, Carl Rattner, Herb Rosenberg and Chuck von Schmidt.

“BLOOM II” focuses on the expansive and complex theme of flowers.

Dan Bergman’s red and green steel construction “Bundle of Joy” generates the energy of growth. Allan Cyprys’ “Small Flower,” in lavender stained wood, quietly contemplates. Esther Grillo’s mixed media “Fleeing Bird” is enmeshed in a field of flowers, Niki Ketchman’s “Corinthian” steel construction creates a sweeping linear statement that furls outward, and Siena Gillann Porta’s work in steel “www.gone.com” alludes to the ephemeral quality of life/flowers. Carl Rattner’s lyrical wood sculpture “Eve’s Garden” touches on the enchantment of childhood, Herb Rosenberg’s “A New Normal Garden” of aluminum and stainless steel addresses the new normal in gardening, and Chuck von Schmidt’s large, painted aluminum flower “Hibiscus” references the power of memory.
