“Hyper Calligraphy”
Kouhei Okamoto Line Works
Kohei Okamoto was born in Japan and at the age of 17, he received the prestigious Mainichi Calligraphy award, as the youngest recipient in the award’s history.
At age 37, he was already a well established calligrapher but he withdrew himself from all the activities and calligraphy associations, and instead started searching for the roots of calligraphy, traveling extensively to China, Korea, and Tibet.
He is the most well known avant-garde calligraphy artist in Japan and his art is expansive and goes beyond the boundary of traditional calligraphy.
His works has been well exhibited in many countries like, Belgium, Germany, France and the USA.
