“Journey to a Painting”
Steven P. Perkins - video & mixed media
Steven P. Perkins, a multi-media artist, presents Journey to a Painting, as part of his open ended body of work titled Lifestyle Art Project. Journey to a Painting features a painting titled Stroke while the rest of the exhibition provides insight into the artist’s creative process. The resulting effect is a peeling of layers of how an abstract painting is realized by examining where the artist was at that particular moment, in this case, China. Perkins uses the term “lifestyle” to refer to the living spirit of a place which is absorbed-immediately, spontaneously, and one could even say, transparently- during travel. Recent commissions for the Lifestyle Art Project have taken Perkins to Thailand, China, Taiwan and India.
