Fun for the family at Hammond Museum’s Chinese Culture Day* Melody of Dragon* is an ensemble playing traditional instruments from China, led by Chen Tao, a world-class master of the Chinese bamboo flute(dizi). Chinese music is inspired by nature with depictions of animals, rivers, gardens and traditions and celebrations of daily life. Melody of Dragon’s music will offer a glimpse of China and the soul of its people through their music. Children will be able to try an instrument after the performance. There will also be folk crafts of Chinese paper cutting by Lu Mingliang and calligraphy by Guan Zhiyuan for everyone’s participation. Admission: $5. Adults; $4. Seniors; Free: Museum Members & Children under 12 |

Shakespeare in the Garden - Macbeth** : 6:30PM
- Garden opens at 6:30pm
An unearthly prophecy. A plot to kill a head of state. Obsession, deception, witches and warriors...and that's just in the first 15 minutes of Shakespeare's Macbeth! "Outdoor Shakespeare is a terrific way to introduce audiences to the works of Shakespeare," said Ursone Executive Director of Curtain Call, Inc. the company producing the play. Patrons are encouraged to bring blankets and/or chairs and a picnic to enjoy in our lovely Japanese Stroll Garden $15. non-museum members; $10. museum members; free to North Salem Residents and children under 12 . |

MoonViewing Concert,
picnic and tea ceremony.**: 6:30PM
The annual MoonViewing concert is a tradition that was begun by Natalie Hays Hammond in 1966. The Japanese Stroll Garden, lit by paper lanterns, is a magical setting for this ancient custom, which every August brings together people and traditions of the East and West. Evening Schedule: 6:30 Bento box picnic 7:00 Introduction to Tea Ceremony class by Michael McKenna 8:30 Concert Bento boxes may be ordered for an additional fee of $15, choice of chicken, salmon or vegetarian. Food reservations must be made by August 17th. NO OUTSIDE FOOD Concert admission: $15 for Museum and Japan Society of Fairfield County members $20 for non-members Free for North Salem Residents |
